St. Patrick’s Day in Chicago is a celebration like no other. And the local bars and restaurants are getting in the Irish spirit with specials and celebrations all weekend long (unofficial St. Patrick’s Day falls on Saturday, March 13 this year). If you’re don’t already have your stool at your favorite pub scoped out, we’ve got some great spots where you can enjoy an Irish feast and a pint of two during the big day.
The Dearborn: This casual tavern in the Loop, run by two Irish sisters, is reopening just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. They’ll be open for brunch, lunch, and dinner with specials like beef and lamb shepherd’s pie, a corned beef reuben, and fish and chips.
Pizzeria Portofino: Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with VIP packages and drink specials, featuring bottles of prosecco, buckets of housemade beer, and delicious coastal Italian fare — not to mention the sweeping views of the Chicago River.
Eli’s Cheesecake: This iconic Chicago bakery is teaming up with Green River Soda to create Eli’s Green River Cheesecake — a rich and creamy neon lime cheesecake, made with real Green River flavoring. It’ll be available at Jewel or online.
Cork and Kerry: It doesn’t get much more Irish than this Bridgeport pub. With over 20 beers on tap and 40 different bottled or canned beers, you’ll be able to find your perfect pint.
Recess: This spacious patio in the West Loop will be serving up boozy Shamrock Shakes at their newly extended “Sugar Rush” outdoor pop-up. They’ll also offer a variety of Irish specials on their seasonal comfort food menu.
